Frank Beattie – Guest Author of URsTV
Frank Beattie is known to many Kilmarnock Standard readers as a local historian and he has also written several books on local history matters.
Less well known are Frank’s poems and stories written with children in mind. Some of his stories have been written with ideas from his own family of three, now aged between 12 and 18.
Frank is a Kilmarnock man through and through, having been born in the town in 1952 and having attended Bentinck School, James Hamilton High School and Kilmarnock Academy. He started work with the Kilmarnock Standard in 1972.
Frank has given URsTV permission to showcase some of his literary works on the site from time to time and we are delighted to publish “Pirates” and “Frankie Frog’s Friday Funeral”.

Hi, i was wondering if someone could tell me if Frank Beatties Grog and Yang was still available to buy?
I would like to get hold of a copy, as it is such a wonderful story, written in a unique rhyming style, a work of art, that takes you on a fabulous fairy tale journey, with a young boy called yang, who sets out to free his people and his land; the book is filled with mystery, adventure, princesses, giants, far off lands and beautiful butterfly…
I hope so much to be able to get a copy…
