Bridge to the Palm Treed Island

Situated on the waterfront of Loch Ryan in the centre of Stranraer, Agnew Park boasts a large boating lake with a range of boats; a specially designed themed crazy golf course; an 18 hole putting green; a miniature railway which takes visitors on a complete tour of the park; a sand filled play park with various play structures; a bridge leading to a palm-treed island with a wide range of innovative play equipment; a mini race car track and a café pavilion offering a wide range of refreshments.

The Park offers a rolling programme of events throughout the year being open to the public year round and is staffed for chargeable activities such as boat hire during the Easter and Summer school holidays. If the park is quiet the staff allow a more flexible approach to how long you can stay out in the boats!

Entrance to the Kids Playground

Travelling from the north is a wonderful way to explore the rugged and spectacular coastline of southern Scotland with breathtaking views over the Firth of Clyde and many places to stop, soak up the views and of course sample the local cuisine. There are a variety of restaurants and cafes throughout the whole route with a wide range to suit all budgets and tastes.

Children can spend hours simply climbing some of the huge rocks which are strewn all over the beaches – and there are some huge stretches of beautiful sandy beaches too!

Explore the Ship Wreck on the Island!

Travelling from the south leaving the border of England is also a fantastic way to explore the Dumfries and Galloway region which will be the topic of a whole new article on URsTV – there is simply too much to describe here!

So enjoy Agnew Park, enjoy Stranraer a beautiful and friendly town with a picturesque marina to boot! Stranraer itself is a great place to stay over to explore this region as a simple day trip does not do this area justice – you will be missing out on so much!

Scottish Sunset over the Firth of Clyde

If you time your journey well you will be able to watch the sun set over the Firth of Clyde which is simply a fantastic way to end the day.

Fortunately the sun did set – otherwise we would probably be still there!

Don’t forget to send your pictures and stories to URsTV as we would love to hear your opinion too!
